#7 - Wine Spectator Top 100 Of 2023
This Antinori family’s historic label, since the 2011 vintage Marchese Antinori has been produced with grapes exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard. It’s made almost entirely with Sangiovese with a small percentage of other complementary varieties. A wine that fully expresses the quality and elegance of Sangiovese grapes grown in this area.
Vinous

A burst of red Sangiovese fruit opens first, followed by hints of blood orange, cinnamon, spice, dried flowers, and mocha develop later. The Tignanello is wonderfully sleek and racy, with fine tannins that lie below a core of bright, sculpted fruit. The balance here is just sublime. I can’t wait to revisit 2020 with age.

This is like a Brunello in its structure with excellent length. Racy and focused. Aromas of violets and dried flowers with hints of bark and dark cherries. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a gorgeous finish. One for now or the cellar. Drinkable but better after 2026.

This has enticing aromas recalling ripe plum, fragrant blue flower and oak-driven spice. On the smooth, savory palate, supple, fine-grained tannins accompany juicy Marasca cherry, cassis, vanilla and star anise. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2024–2031.
