70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from 60+ year old vines.
The nose is filled with mixed red and black berries, cherries and blackberries, with vibrant scents of minerality, hillside brush and black licorice. A hint of balsamic and dark spices add even more depth. Upon tasting, the fruit is reiterated but kept supple and lively due to excellent structure-- smooth tannins and medium acidity that uplifts the wine (making it a superb, versatile pairing partner with food: charcuterie, hard cheeses, game, tacos, empanadas, etc.) and keeps it light on the palate-- not heavy. The cherries and dark berries are in the foreground with dark chocolate, red licorice and mixed spice making for an amazing supporting cast. The fruit flavors last and last in the finish, aided by notes of spice and earthy wood. Serious and seriously excellent wine. We had one more glass when arriving home from work paired with a simple marinara pasta with meatballs and parmesan and life was so good!

This muscular red finds fine balance and poise, integrating firm, sculpted tannins and bright orange peel acidity. Offers rich and expressive flavors of boysenberry and blackberry coulis, licorice, singed apple wood and ground coffee. Hints of toast, tar and dried mint and thyme linger on the fine-grained finish. Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2031. 6,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.
